Bevan Sewell

Bevan Sewell recently completed a PhD at De Montfort University on the Eisenhower administration’s policies in Latin America and Brazil. He is currently converting his thesis into a monograph entitled, “A Global Policy in a Regional Setting: The Eisenhower Administration, Latin America and Brazil, 1953-1961.”

He has also recently had an article accepted for publication in Diplomatic History (“A Perfect (Free Market) World?: Economics, the Eisenhower Administration and the Soviet Economic Offensive in Latin America”), and is working on a piece on the past, present and future of US-Latin American relations. His wider research interests are in the development of US policy during the Cold War and on further exploring the intricacies of the Eisenhower administration’s approach to foreign policy

He has not, as yet, presented any programmes on Radio 4; however, he did once appear in the background on BBC 1’s coverage of the 1991 FA Cup Final! He retains a lifelong interest in football (which he continues to play at a mediocre level) and has recently developed a fondness for reading “That’s not my Monster” and “Big Trucks” with his 10-month old son.
